It might look something like this.
For this project I created a variety of stylized volcanic rock materials and use them in a scene. This scene is composed of a caldera with jagged cliff walls and lava pouring in. I chose a night scene because I wanted most of the lighting to be supplied by the lava in order to really let the emissive layers shine.
The lava material has it's various emissive layers blended between by using vertex colors on the lava meshes. The cliffs are made using a kit of meshes that all use the columnar basalt material.
All meshes were made using blender. All materials were made using Substance Designer. The scene was put together and rendered in Unreal Engine 4. Material shots were taken in Marmoset Toolbag. Photoshop was used to do some light touch-up and color correction on the scene renders.
